An insightful workshop by our Head of School and Advisor!

On December 5th, the first workshop in the “College Readiness Series: Pathways to Success” officially kicked off. Led by Head of School Gerald Schoen and advisor Edward Oh, the session revealed powerful, real-world insights into the U.S. college application journey. Through this workshop, parents and families gained valuable guidance to build smart strategies and better prepare their children for the path to top American universities.

Key takeaways for students and parents

  • Choose the right academic pathway: Select a pathway that aligns with each student’s strengths and long-term goals.
  • GPA is Priority #1: A strong and consistent GPA remains the most important factor in university admissions.
  • Smart AP Strategy: Focus on depth, not quantity. Choose AP courses that tell a clear story about interests and passions.
  • Success looks different for every student: There is no single definition of success — it is personal, purposeful, and individual.
  • Demonstrating interest: Many US universities track student engagement such as opening emails, attending virtual tours, or reaching out to admissions offices.
  • The “Spike” Factor: Top universities look for students who show deep, long-term commitment in a specific area instead of superficial involvement.

The College Readiness Course for Grade 11 will begin in Semester 2. Stay tuned for more information on our website!
