In Vietnamese Studies class, our 10I and 11I students worked on a flavorful project - bringing the ancient Vietnamese philosophy of Yin-Yang balance in food to life! This belief holds that harmony in ingredients (cool yin and warm yang) creates balance in our body.
After exploring this idea in class, students rolled up their sleeves and put theory into action by cooking up dishes that reflect this meaningful tradition. Students worked together to design their recipes, cook and decorate their meals, create posters to promote their dishes, and present them to teachers and peers.
Let's look at some of the mouthwatering dishes our students made:
🍜Beef Pho
🍜Sticky Rice with Braised Pork
🍜Yogurt with Jackfruit
🍜Five-Spice Grilled Pork
🍜Pho Rolls
🍜Southern Vietnamese Beef Rice Noodles
🍜Braised Tofu with Pork and Tomato Sauce
🍜Stir-fried pork with garlic

Through this hands-on experience, students not only learned about food but they also practiced teamwork, communication, and cultural appreciation for cuisine in Vietnam where they currently live. This hands-on experience is a great example of our school’s pillar - Global Citizenry - connecting with culture, working together, and learning by doing.
