What is Advanced Placement (AP) Program
The Advanced Placement (AP) program is designed by the College Board. In the US, approximately 5.2 million students are currently enrolled in this program at over 20,000 high schools.
The AP program offers 38 courses across 7 fields: Arts, English, History & Social Sciences, Math & Computer Science, Sciences, World Languages & Cultures, and AP Capstone. Students take AP exams held in May each year.
At True North International School, students have the opportunity to explore upto 14 AP courses spanning various fields such as History, Science, Chemistry, Music, Fine Arts, Economics, etc., taught by expert level teachers in these fields. During the seminar, parents will have the opportunity to learn more about the AP program with guest speaker Danny Hwang, CEO and Founder of True North International School. Mr. Danny will answer all parents' questions about specific information such as AP courses at True North, exam support services, the number of AP courses students can take at the school, cost comparisons with other study abroad pathways like IB and A-Levels, strategy to build a profile to win major scholarships from US universities, etc. In addition to Mr. Danny's sharing, families will also hear testimonials from currently enrolled students in the AP program, and win attractive prizes with a minigame at the end of the seminar.
Who is Danny Hwang?
The seminar proudly features Danny Hwang, Director and Founder of NPX Point Avenue Education Group based in Singapore, and also Director and Founder of True North International School. Mr. Danny graduated from the US Military Academy at West Point and has over 15 years of experience working in primary and secondary education in Asia.
Using the Mentorship method (guidance and counseling), Mr. Danny Hwang has supported over 200 students to study abroad successfully at top universities in the US such as MIT, Harvard, Purdue, University of Chicago, University of Pennsylvania, and more, securing a total of over $26 million in scholarships.

Advanced Placement (AP) is a program in the United States created by the College Board. AP offers undergraduate university-level curricula and examinations to high school students. Colleges and universities in the US and around the world may grant placement and course credit to students who obtain qualifying scores on AP examinations.
The AP (Advanced Placement) program is a set of advanced courses with a difficulty level equivalent to first-year university level, designed for high school students. This program allows students to earn college credits while still in high school. AP courses and exams are widely offered in high schools and universities across the United States and are recognized by many universities worldwide.
Over the past few years we have tracked shifting policy language surrounding the use of AP scores in the college admissions process. We will continue to track these policies moving forward as we expect the role of AP scores in admissions to continue to evolve.
