Preamble
The 3Cs of True North School reflect our commitment to build a safe environment for all TNS students. The Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP) is specifically focused on preventative actions to ensure that all children are protected from deliberate or unintentional acts that lead to the risk of or actual harm.  

True North School firmly believes in putting our students first, hence, the best interests of children must be the primary concern in decision making about them. All adults involved in TNS have the responsibility to protect the child.

Principles and Belief
True North School recognizes that having a safeguarding and child protection policy does not mean that any risk to our students is eliminated. Rather, we expect that all True North School staff, including all staff and volunteers in our schools and any contractors or partner agency staff used by schools, recognize where a student is at risk of, or is actually being harmed and do all they can to reduce further risk or further harm.

True North School and all our schools accept and adhere to these basic principles:
• A child’s welfare is our priority, and each student has the right to be protected from harm and exploitation and to have their welfare safeguarded, irrespective of race, religion, ability, gender, or culture.
• Every student at TNS has the right to a quality education. Each teacher has the responsibility to teach, and each student has the right and the responsibility to learn. No one has the right to interfere with this process.
• All students need to be safe and feel safe in school.
• Every adult in school must have a demonstrable commitment to protecting the students with/for
whom we work with.
• We work in partnership with parents/carers and/or other professionals to ensure the protection of students.
• Our guiding principle throughout is ‘the best interests of the students’.
• All students have the same equal rights to protection, but we recognize that we need to do more for some students because of their special educational needs, disability, gender, religion and/or sexual orientation.

Individual Responsibilities
All Teachers
• Responsibilities on all staff (including partner organizations and contractors having unsupervised contact with children)
• Ensure they are familiar with and follow this safeguarding policy and all other safeguarding related policies e.g. Codes of Conduct, guidance for safe working practices.
• Be subject to safe recruitment processes and checks prior to starting at the school/organization (unless an action plan/risk assessment is in place to ensure the staff member is supervised until all checks are completed).
• Be alert to signs and indicators of possible abuse.
• Listen to and take seriously the views and concerns of children.
• Record any concerns and report these to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
• Follow the procedures outlined in this document when/if concerned about any child.
• Support students, staff, or other adults who have concerns, or who are the subject of concerns, to act appropriately and effectively in instigating or cooperating with any subsequent process of investigation.
• Undertake appropriate child protection/safeguarding and safe recruitment training (and refresher training as required by Nord Anglia Education).
• All staff and volunteers need to recognize that if their behavior inside or outside the workplace breaches the TNS code of conduct and/or the guidance for safe working practice, this may be considered a disciplinary or even criminal matter.

Non-teaching Staff 
All non-teaching staff are to be aware of the CSP and their responsibilities. Non-teaching staff have the responsibility to report suspicions of occurring/re-occurring/past abuse to the SLT. Non-teaching staff have the responsibility to ensure the safety of the environment, including but not limited to following equipment and emergency regulations.

Parents
• Parents should share and update information and knowledge of concerning signs and behaviors from their children. 
• Parents are to report any suspicion of abuse to the homeroom teacher, or directly to the SLT. Parents are to cooperate with the School and, when needed, external agencies in the child's best interest.

Students 
Students are those who must be protected and are at the center of CSP.  Students are encouraged to report to the homeroom teacher, advisor, or directly to SLT any suspicion and/or findings of abuse inside or/and outside the School.

Training
True North School will ensure that:
• All staff and volunteers in schools are provided with appropriate general safeguarding training on joining the organization and then at least every three years. 
• Relevant policies are made available in a range of relevant languages.
• Staff and volunteers are supported and have the necessary skills to recognize and take appropriate action regarding students who are at risk, or potentially at risk.
• Those who have the Designated Safeguarding Lead responsibility in schools have appropriate, up to date knowledge and access appropriate additional and specialist training (approved by the Board of Management). This will be refreshed every two years.
• All staff and volunteers are subject to a full induction, which includes an overview of what to do
and who to contact if concerned about a student.
• Appropriate staff are trained in safe recruitment. This safe recruitment training must be renewed every two years.
• Training for new starters must be completed before any new starter can have unsupervised contact with students.
• Any student who has or is suffering from any form of harm will receive support. Once agreed with any investigating agency (if involved), students can be offered direct support through school counselors or external agency input. All True North schools will hold information in relation to local, regional or national bodies that may be able to offer direct support in these circumstances.

Safe Recruiting
The TNS Child Safeguarding Policy includes safe recruiting practices including enhanced background checking and child safeguarding for all substitute teachers.

원칙과 신념
True North School은 보호 및 아동 보호 정책을 갖고 있다는 것이 학생들에게 어떤 위험이 해소되었다는 것을 의미하지 않음을 인식합니다. 오히려, 우리는 모든 트루 노스 스쿨 직원, 학교의 모든 직원 및 자원봉사자, 학교에서 협약한 모든 업체 또는 학교와 협력하는 파트너 기관의 직원이 어떤 학생이 위험에 처하거나 실제로 손해를 입고 있는 경우를 인식하고 더 많은 위험이나 피해를 줄이기 위해 최선을 다할 것으로 기대합니다.

True North School과 모든 학교는 다음과 같은 기본 원칙을 인정하고 준수합니다:

• 아동의 복지는 우리의 최우선 과제이며, 각 학생은 인종, 종교, 능력, 성별 또는 문화와 상관없이 해로부터 보호되고 그들의 복지가 보호되어야 하는 권리가 있습니다.

• 학교의 모든 성인은 우리가 함께 일하는 학생들을 보호하기 위한 명백한 헌신이 있어야 합니다.
• 우리는 학생들의 보호를 확보하기 위해 부모/보호자 및/또는 다른 전문가들과 협력합니다.
• 우리의 지침 원칙은 항상 '학생들의 최선의 이익'입니다.
• 모든 학생은 보호받기 위한 동일한 권리를 가지고 있지만, 특수 교육 요구, 장애, 성별, 종교 및/또는 성적 성향으로 인해 어떤 학생들에게는 더 많은 지원이 필요하다는 점을 우리는 인식합니다.

개인 책임

모든 교사
모든 직원에게 이 보호 정책 및 다른 모든 관련 정책(행동 강령, 안전한 근무 지침 등)에 익숙해지고 준수하는 책임이 있습니다.

• 이들이 이 보호 정책 및 다른 관련 정책들(예: 윤리 규정, 안전한 근무 지침 등)을 숙지하고 준수하도록 보장합니다.
• 학교/기관에서 근무를 시작하기 전에 안전한 채용 절차 및 확인 과정을 거치게 하며(단, 모든 확인이 완료될 때까지 해당 직원이 감독되도록 하는 계획/위험 평가가 이미 수립된 경우를 제외하고), 안전한 채용 프로세스에 따릅니다.
• 가능한 학대의 조짐과 징후에 주의를 기울입니다.
• 학생의 의견과 우려에 주의를 기울이고 진지하게 받아들입니다.
• 어떠한 우려사항이라도 기록하고 이를 지정된 보호책임자(DSL)에게 보고합니다.
• 학생에 대한 우려사항이 있는 경우 이 문서에 기술된 절차를 따릅니다.
• 우려사항이 있는 경우, 적절하게 행동하고 조사과정을 적절하게 시작하거나 협력하기 위해 우려사항을 가진 학생, 교직원 또는 기타 성인을 지원합니다.
• 아동 보호/안전 교육 및 안전한 채용 교육을 받습니다(필요한 경우 Nord Anglia Education에서 제공하는 추가 교육도 포함).
• 모든 직원과 자원봉사자는 직장 내외에서 TNS 윤리 규정 및 안전한 근무 지침을 위반하는 행동을 인식해야 하며, 이는 징계 사안 또는 범죄 사안으로 간주될 수 있습니다.

보조직원

모든 보조직원은 CSP와 자신의 책임을 인식해야 합니다. 보조직원은 발생 중이거나 재발하거나 과거의 학대에 대한 의심을 SLT에 신고할 책임이 있습니다. 또한, 보조직원은 환경 안전을 보장하기 위한 책임이 있으며, 이는 장비 및 비상 규정 준수를 포함하지만 이에 국한되지 않습니다.

부모님들

• 부모님들은 자녀로부터 우려되는 징후와 행동에 관한 정보 및 지식을 공유하고 최신 정보를 유지해야 합니다. 
• 부모님들은 학급 담임 선생님에게 학대 의심 사항을 보고하거나 직접 SLT에 신고해야 합니다. 부모님들은 학교 및 필요한 경우 아동의 이익을 위해 외부 기관과 협력해야 합니다.

학생들

학생들은 보호받아야 할 대상이며 CSP의 중심에 위치하고 있습니다.
학생들은 학교 내/외에서 발생한 학대에 대한 의심이나 발견을 학급 담임 선생님, 지도 교사 또는 직접 SLT에 보고할 것을 권장합니다. 

교육

True North School은 다음을 보장할 것입니다:

• 조직에 합류할 때 및 적어도 매 해 3년마다 학교의 모든 직원 및 자원봉사자에게 적절한 일반 안전 보호 교육이 제공됩니다.
• 관련 정책은 다양한 관련 언어로 제공됩니다.
• 직원 및 자원봉사자들은 위험에 처한 학생이나 잠재적으로 위험에 처한 학생에 대해 인식하고 적절한 조치를 취할 수 있도록 지원받으며 필요한 기술을 갖추게 됩니다.
• 학교에서 지정된 보호책임을 맡은 사람들은 적절하고 최신의 지식을 갖추어야 하며, 이들은 이에 추가되고 전문적인 교육을 받을 수 있어야 합니다 (이는 이사회에서 승인한 교육입니다. 이는 매 해 2년마다 갱신됩니다).
• 모든 직원과 자원봉사자는 전체 입문 교육을 받으며, 이 중에는 학생에 대한 우려사항이 있는 경우 무엇을 해야 하고 누구에게 연락해야 하는지에 대한 개요도 포함됩니다.
• 적절한 직원들은 안전한 채용에 대한 교육을 받습니다. 이 안전한 채용 교육은 매 두 년마다 갱신되어야 합니다.
• 새로운 직원들에 대한 교육은 어떠한 새 직원도 학생들과 감독 없이 접촉하기 전에 완료되어야 합니다.
• 어떤 학생이든 어떤 형태의 피해를 입었거나 입고 있는 경우 지원을 받게 됩니다. 조사 기관과 합의된 경우 (관련된 경우) 학생들은 학교 상담사나 외부 기관의 직접적인 지원을 받을 수 있습니다. True North School은 이러한 상황에서 직접적인 지원을 제공할 수 있는 지역, 지방 또는 국가 기관과 관련된 정보를 보유하고 있을 것입니다.

안전한 채용

TNS 아동 보호 정책에는 모든 대리 교사에 대한 향상된 배경 확인 및 아동 보호를 포함한 안전한 채용 관행이 포함되어 있습니다.
