Last week, four of our students from Vietnam, Korea, and Germany of True North School, embarked on an enriching cultural journey as part of the "Following the Heritage Flow" program. Accompanied by school leaders, the students actively participated in a meticulously planned experiential program to connect the Vietnamese people's cultural heritage with audiences both domestically and internationally.
During the program, our students played a pivotal role, interpreting for embassy Ambassadors and officers and introducing Vietnamese culture to them. The Head of School, in expressing gratitude, mentioned that TNS was honored to have Gia Nghia, Bella, Ngan Anh, and Gemini attend the "Unlock the Potential Cultural Heritage" conference.
The students' experience went beyond interpreting; they witnessed traditional dances at the Buddha temple, listened to Vietnamese musical instruments, took a boat ride to see the bird sanctuary, tasted various traditional foods, and enjoyed the company of one another. This outdoor experience, breaking the confines of classroom walls, provided valuable lessons.
Through the journey, students learned the art of networking and its purpose, recognized the importance of heritage, and understood the need to preserve its roots. The experience also opened their eyes to the question of 'who am I,' fostering a deeper connection with their Vietnamese identity.
The trip contributed to the broader goal of connecting cultures and preserving heritage and served as a transformative experience for our students, imparting lessons that extend far beyond the academic realm.
