Position Title: ELA Teacher

POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for a highly qualified ELA Teacher with previous experience in international education to join our expanding team of high-quality professionals. The role of the ELA Teacher is essentially to build and maintain a successful ELA Program which includes providing support for students with English language needs and preparing ELA students for accessing the curriculum in English.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Educational role
- Develop and execute the preparation, planning and delivery of English classes and activities for students;
- Ensure that students are provided with suitable and differentiated material to make rapid progress across the curriculum;
- Build good rapport and productive relationships with students throughout the school – encouraging an ambitious attitude to learning and excellent behaviour;
- Use a variety of grouping strategies, including whole-class, small-group, partner, and individual work;
- Ensure that the teaching environment is well managed and appropriately resourced;
- Maintain academic records of all students;
- Oversee student assessment (summative and formative) and reporting to parents;
- Curriculum
- Participate in the formulation of English development plans and policies;
- Meet regularly with the Head of School and English Team to collaboratively develop, monitor and evaluate English curriculum provision for the school;
- Collate Programmes of Study, Schemes of Work, Dept/Subject Action Plans;
- Identify both good practice and areas for improvement and use these to write an annual development plan for English;
- Evaluate the program collaboratively with teaching partners, and parents and students as appropriate, using agreed flexible systems;
- Personal Development
- Participate fully in the school’s Performance Management procedures and appraisal, objective setting, etc.;
- Take responsibility for professional development and use the outcomes for their own benefit and that of the school;
- Participate in learning walks, observations and coaching, as appropriate;
- Others
- Support the life of the school beyond the classroom;
- Undertake the planning and organization of day trips within the subject as required;
- Deliver extra-curricular clubs in line with the school’s expectations;
- Support all Milepost/Key Stage events, such as productions and assemblies.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, English Language Arts, Education, Literature, or a related field. A valid Teaching Credential/License is preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience teaching ELA using modern, student-centered pedagogical approaches
- Skills: Excellent classroom management, proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS), and strong communication skills
