Yesterday morning, over 350 students and parents gathered at True North International School for the Opening Ceremony of the 2025–2026 academic year—an inspiring event officially launching a new journey under the theme: EMPOWERMENT.
The ceremony opened with beautiful piano performances from TNIS’s youngest talents:

🎹 Mei Linh Phạm with “Ode to Joy”
🎹 Kim Doeun with “Kimigayo”
🎹 A stunning duet by Mr. Alek and Kim Minso performing “Uno Cabeza”
Following the national anthem and a heartfelt video review of the previous year, the audience heard uplifting speeches from Mr. Michael Lambert – Former Head of School, and Mr. Gerald Schoen – the new Head of School, who now officially takes the helm.
In a symbolic moment, Mr. Lambert passed the “Torch of Knowledge” to Mr. Schoen. Our SGO President Ngo Gia Nghia (12I) proudly held the torch high—leading the school into a year of growth, voice, and purpose. And finally, students from Grade 6A proudly announced the year’s theme: EMPOWERMENT in a spectacular fashion. This is a call to unlock potential, embrace confidence, and strive to be the best version of oneself.
A warm welcome was also extended to PreK and Grade 1 students—our newest community members—who were cheered on by our whole community as they took their first steps into an exciting adventure ahead.
The ceremony ended with cheers, applause, and joyful photo sessions—marking the beginning of what promises to be an extraordinary school year at True North!
